Family owned since 2000
A greenhouse that started in 1989 grew into the garden center gardeners drive hours to reach.
Split Mountain started as a small wholesale company growing perennials and herbs, with the first greenhouse going up in 1989. Over time we set the wholesale side aside and built the retail garden center that opened in 2000, so we could focus on meeting the needs of our own community here in the Basin.
Today we try to meet all of our local needs with a good selection of annuals, perennials, houseplants, trees and shrubs. We have a special focus on fruiting trees, shrubs and vines that are hardy through our cold winters, because the Uintah Basin really is a great place to grow fruit when you plant the right varieties.
Everything we carry is chosen to perform in the harsh, high-desert climate of Northeastern Utah. That is the difference gardeners notice, and it is why so many make the drive out to Jensen for varieties they cannot find in the bigger towns.
Member, Master Nursery Garden Centers
We are an independent member of Master Nursery Garden Centers, a group of roughly 700 independent garden centers across the country. It keeps our selection and our know-how deep, while we stay a local, family-owned business.

Twenty-six years in, the goal has not changed: help the Basin grow good things. Call ahead, then come walk the greenhouse and the rows.
