A well-placed tree is one of the best investments in a yard, cooling the house in summer, framing the view and settling in for decades once it takes hold. From fast, thirsty willows and cottonwoods to slow, stately oaks and coffeetrees, plus flowering pears, plums and crabapples for spring color, our list is chosen to handle the cold winters and high-desert soils of Northeastern Utah.
